Wisconsin Presented Volume III Casey’s Tactics, 1862 publish date. All plates, pages present with good sound binding. This book was presented to “Harvey Reid from Cpt A. G. Kellam 2nd brig, 3rd div 20th A.C” Alphonse G. Kellam from Delavan, Wisconsin enlisted as CPT CO D 22nd Wisconsin in August 1862. On August 25, 1863 he was detailed as the Assistant Adjutant General of the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division 20th Army Corps. He held that until June 1865 when he mustered out of service. Neat period pen presentation in the book. I believe that Harvey Reid was Corporal Harvey Reed of Co A 22nd Wisconsin who enlisted 8/7/62 from Union City and mustered out 6/12/65. I bet with a little fact finding you will discover he was perhaps a clerk at brigade HQ or detailed to brigade for one reason or another.                                                      SALE PENDING

ID12
Neat set of two Officer's tactics books Id'd to CPT Charles Woodward, CO F 11th New Hampshire Infantry. This was a hard fought 9th Corps unit. The first book is a super condition 1862 copy of McClelland's Bayonet Tactics. Sound binding, all pages present and in fantastic condition. Woodward inscribed the book in period ink on the back cover, "Capt Chas Woodward 11th Regt 2nd Brig, 2nd Div, 9th A.C." The second book is Volume III of Casey's Infantry Tactics also dated 1863. The signature is present on the first page but is torn as is shown in the scans. This Casey's volume is not is as good of shape at the McClelland's, all pages are present but is missing a couple of the pull outs. Corners of the cover are bumped---just looks like it was carried!  Woodward enlisted at New London, NH as a sergeant he was 24 years old. He was commissioned 1LT on 9/30/62 and CPT 1/30/62. He was discharged for disability 6/23/64 (I am guessing he got hurt during the Overland Campaign, but don't have the records to prove it). Great id'd set of books, from well fought unit.        SALE PENDING
