Image043
1/6 plate ruby ambrotype of armed Union Soldier. This early war enlisted man carries a M1842 musket, and wears accoutrements. Good view of what the early war Soldier carried into the field. Ambrotype has hallowing around the subject as shown in the image. Subject matter is clear with good detail, but due to the hallowing the image is priced accordingly. Housed in full leather case with repaired spine.                        $215.00

1/6 tintype showing Private Harris Pitts of Company G 153rd Illinois Infantry. He enlisted from Laona, Illinois, in February of 1865, saw service around Nashville and within Tennessee and Alabama mostly garrison duty and some limited campaigns against Confederate cavalry. He mustered out in September 1865. Pitts is seated with that "thousand yard stare" you often see in Civil War images. Good clarity and contrast with a few minor surface abrasions. He is the only Harris Pitts listed in the rosters. He is identified by a Civil War period piece of paper with period pencil id reading "Harris Pitts" inside the case. House is full case with patriotic motifs on cover, repaired spine.        $165.00

Fantastic 1/6 plate early clear glass ambrotype of two Federal (Union) soldiers seated side by side. These guys sport shell jackets and light blue mounted trousers. I bet these guys are brothers. Great image 10 out of 10 in clarity and contrast. Housed in full case (repaired spine) with flag on cover.                         $200.00

Image039
1/6 plate tintype in half case. This image shows two Union (Federal) enlisted cavalry troopers standing side by side. They wear issue shell jackets and mounted enlisted pants. Each wears a slouch hat, with the trooper on the left exhibiting "15" on his with an ostrich feather attached for a dashing look. Soldiers are posed in front of a military backdrop. Good clarity and contrast on this image.                                       $200.00

Image28
Super 1/6 plate tintype of Union Soldier holding his forage cap. He wears his US buckle upside down on this belt. The hat has a company letter and regimental "36" displayed along with a good view of a private purchase ventilation system so popular with early war recruits. This image is housed in a geometric gutta purcha case in good condition. Rates a 10 out of 10 in clarity and contrast. Good image for any collection.                                      $235.00

This is one cool picture! Houses in a full and good condition "wounded stag" gutta purcha case is this young Union enlisted man posed in front of a camp scene background. What makes this image personal is his loved one cut a lock of his hear and attached it to the image case. The young Soldier also took liberty to cut a pocket into his dress frock coat. That would not fly in today's Army! Outstanding image of a young Union volunteer. 10 out of 10 for clarity and contrast. Excellent!                                                                                                                                    $250.00

Image26
1/6 plate tintype. Super clear and well contrasted image of Federal Soldier wearing a state issued shell jacket with a pretty interesting bow tie—was probably red, white and blue. Good looking Soldier and good image housed in full case with split spine. So clear you can plainly make out the eagles on his buttons. Strong image for any collection.                                                          $225.00

Image 25
1/6 plate tintype in full case. Early war Federal enlisted man sporting regulation frock coat, shoulder scales and trousers. This confident Yank has a small caliber pocket pistol in his belt, and is drawing it for the camera. The belt is somewhat unique not having the proper US buckle….I think it may be a rifleman’s model belt—Mass was a state that made use of these early in the war. The belt it thicker than a M1858 belt and is not regulation. Anyway a neatly posed image with strong content. Clarity is good, a few surface scratches but they do not detract. $265.00

IMAGE024
OUTSTANDING 1/6 plate ruby ambrotype of cocky young New York Soldier. This one has a ton of character and is a 10 out of 10 in clarity and contrast. So clear you can see the NY state seal buttons on the coat. (although my garbage camera doesn't reflect that) Full case. Great image for discriminating collectors.                       $240.00

Image23
1/9 plate tintype of CORP Bateson Harris Company G 45th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Harris enlisted 8/10/62 at age 19 and mustered out 6/12/65. The regiment, mounted for most of 1863 spent its time chasing around Morgan’s raiders through KY, OH and IN. They then joined Sherman’s Army and were heavily engaged during the Atlanta operations concluding their battle history with the 23rd Corps in the fight for Nashville in 1864. Harris’s name appears inked on the reverse of the tintype. I have no reason to doubt that this is him. Image surfaced in Ohio. Good clarity and contrast. Housed in half case.                                   $150.00

Image013
Crystal clear 1/6 plate tintype in full case of armed Union Soldier. Proudly holding a M1853 Enfield rifle also wearing accoutrements. Good clear image with Soldier posed holding his rifle across his chest. Must have taken some strength since he probably had to hold this pose for upwards of 30 seconds.         $300.00

Image005
1/6 Plate tintype of WOUNDED Union first sergeant. Unbelievable content! Image shows a Union NCO cradling his right arm in a sling fully padded with pillows. Sling is suspended by a leather strap around his shoulder. Really cool content, image was taken on against a dark back drop so appears a tad dark to the eye but the backdrop helps the content pop. Image had tinting to his chevrons, also to the pillows that are supporting his crippled arm. Great image housed in half case.              $315.00

Image20
Fantastically clear 1/6 tintype of newly promoted Federal officer. Still wearing an enlisted frock coat, but has shoulder rank applied and he is holding his minty M1850 foot officers sword. Image is so clear you can see the sheen on his officers belt and strap. This is image is 10 out of 10 for clarity, contrast and content. Housed in full case. Does not get any better than this.                                 $400.00

Image014
Super 1/2 plate tintype from life in a full case showing 5 proud Union Soldiers. Most likely Western theater, they just seem more jaunty and looser dressed then Eastern theater Soldiers. Most pose in their fatigue blouses and some hold slouch hats. Definite campaign pards. Great image and good clarity and contrast.
$450.00

Image0015
Crystal clear 1/9 tintype of Union Veteran Reserve Corps soldier. Posed with his shell jacket open, but great hand tinting a light blue color, proper for VRC Soldiers. Housed in full good condition geometric Union case. Seldom seen content.                                                                             $175.00

Image017
1/6 plate crystal clear tintype of early war Union officer. Great clarity and contrast on this image. Shows Union officer posed with his big floppy McDowell pattern forage cap, highlight with hand tinting showing gold braid on the cap, and light blue tinting on the 2LT shoulder boards. Housed in full case with split spine. Good early war shot. Wonder what happened to this guy during his service history?     $225.00

Image004
¼ Plate tintype of Union Soldier standing in front of a patriot backdrop and displaying his Philadelphia Depot canteen (can tell by string attaching stopper). Image plat e does exhibit some bends and early emulsion bubbling in the upper left field near subject’s head—but emulsion IS stable. Rare content, housed in half case.                                                                                                                                           $225.00

Image009
